The Last Lecture

This is Mao KOMOTO from EDC3.

Long vacation finished. Did you enjoy your vacation?

The second semester started, so try harder this semester!

This time, I’ m going to tell you about my feeling on ‘The Last Lecture’.

Have you ever read this book? It was written by Dr. Randy Pausch.

I was surprised and impressed his good messages.

He became to get pancreatic cancer, so his lifetime was few days. However, he had his positive way of thinking. If I became to have cancer, probably I only would be afraid and worry about my health and my lifetime.

I think he tell me what life is. Maybe, I can’t think as him but I wanna try positive thinking.

I was interesting him, so I watched his ‘The Last Lecture’ (title is Achieving Your Childhood Dreams) on You Tube. His lecture was not so serious. His speech included humor but he told me that your dream would come true if you never give up.

Sightseeing in London ②

After enjoying relaxing time at Park, we went to see Westminster temple. It was so beautiful and solemnity! I understand the reason why it is a world heritage.
At night, we rode London-eye. It is a big Ferris wheel. The night view from it was the most beautiful sceneries I have ever seen. Although fare is little expensive, however, it is really worth riding! You should book in advance if you don't want to waste long time to ride it because it is popular spot.

Last day, I went to London Zoo with my friend. There is a famous location spot in this zoo.
The scene of Harry Potter talked with a snake was filmed here!
After visiting there, I went to Sherlock Homes Museum. There are so many people in this museum, so I felt the popularity of Homes.

This trip to London is one of the best memories I have ever had! I'd like to visit London again someday.

Sightseeing in London ①

Hi, every one! I'm Shizuka Mori from EDC3.
I'm going to talk about trip to London from 3rd to 5th.

On Friday, we went to Tower Bridge and London Bridge. Walking along the Themes was very impressive because it was just sunset time!
Big Ben was very tall and beautiful than I had expected. I was really impressed by it.
At night, I tried to go to restaurant with my friend but we gave up because it was too late.
There are some dangerous places in London. Everyone must take care especially at night in foreign countries .

Next day, I got up early and went for a walk to Legents park. There are many gardens and flowers. And we could also see squirrels. They are so cute!
After eating breakfast, we walked to British Museum and national gallery. We could see world-famous historic records and pictures. I especially liked the picture drawn by Mone.
After that, I went to Buckingham Palace with my friend, however, we could not enter.
Instead of taking a field trip of Buckingham Palace, we enjoyed relaxing time at Green Park and Hyde park.

Classes at Trinity college

Hello, everyone! I'm Shizuka Mori from EDC3. I'd like to talk about classes we took at Trinity college.
We learned various kinds of things at class. I was surprised that there are many kinds of schools in the UK. At sightseeing class, I understood that sightseeing roles very important play in Wales. We also practiced pronunciation. It was very difficult to tell the difference of 'L' from 'R'.
I 'd like to practice more and more.

At weekend, we traveled many places. At national library of Wales, we could see many valuable historic records. I was surprised that books printed in 14C still exist.

Next day was free day. I went to TESCO (like a big super market) with my friend. We made effort to choose washing powder. Taking a rest all day, I could relax.

Takayama

Hi! My name is Aya from EDC1.
I went to Takayama with my parents last week. I drove all the way. It took me about 2 hours. I bought apples which raised in Takayama. These smell was very good. On return rode, I drove over the expressway. It was fast, so the journey was comortable for me. I enjoyed driving all day long.

Yokohama!!!

This is Kiwa again.

This summer vacation, I also went to Yokohama with my friends of part time job.
We went to Yokohama by train, so it took us about 4 hours to get to Yokohama. However, it was good trip by train, because we talked about many things such as school, part time jobs and so on.

We went to Hakkeijima sea paradise and China town.

Hakkeijima sea paradise is famous for dolphin. I enjoyed watching many kinds of fishes, especially a shoal of sardines and shark. Regrettably, I couldn't see a dolphin that do a bubble ring, because he died 2 days before we visit. We were sad, but we could see bubble ring in a dolphin show.


In China town, we went China restaurant and eat many china food. It was cheap and delicious. If I have a time, I go to there again.

Hair model

Hello. This is Kiwa from EDC3.

This summer vacation, I became a model of hair contest.
On September 20th, MITUI Hair Dressing Awards was held in Granship.
I became a model of hair cutting contest.



Before that day, I and stylist prepared for contest. I dyed my hair very light and cut my hair.
On contest day, I was made up by artist and got dressed.
In the contest, 200 people took part in the same division. Our turn was last competition.

I was little nervous because some judge looked at us to examine cutting skills. Besides, I had to walk like a fashion model. I wore shoes with very high heels, so it was difficult to walk.



I had a good experience in this contest. It was very fun!!!
If I have a chance, I want to be a model again.

Book Review

Hello.
I'm Yumi from EDC3.

The summer vacation finished, I'm very sad.
There are many things I had to do, but I couldn't.
I really regret.

Today, I will write about the book "The Last Lecture".

When I read this book, I thought about my life.
I think tommorow certainly come and I spend my life everyday.
I hardly suspect it, but in author's position, i think it's impossible.
I think it's very difficult to live facing with a death.
It is not only the person facing with a death, but also his/hers family and friends.
I have never experienced like this situation, so I can't imagine.
But, I considered how to spend the rest of one's time.
This situation maybe happen to me or around me.
In that case, I want to spend my life so I will not regret later.

I regret that summer vacation finished.But! I could have valuable experiences in this summer vacation. I enjoyed very much!

This picture is my best shoot! The houses of Wales were very cute, and the sky was beautiful.

I will work hard to progress my English skill this second semester.

Futsal!!

Hi, I'm Maiko from EDC1.

I belong to futsal circle, so I lodged together from 20th to 22nd on September.

We went to IRA lake in Aichi.

We played soccer on the beach.

The weather was very hot and didn't blow.

The practice was very hard, so I felt very tired.

We had a league soccer game there. Our coach divided us into three team. Then, we started playing soccer.

My team was the bottom when we finished three game, but we won the game by last game.

Therefore, three team's rank became same ranking. After that, we played beach flag to decide No.1 team. As a result, my team won the race!

I enjoyed playing soccer on the beach.

I had a very good memory, so I want to lodge together with futsal member again.

My Birthday

Hi, I'm Maiko from EDC1.

On September 21st, I was 20 years old.

At that then, I lodged together with futsal members, so I was celebrated my birthday by them. I was very glad.

Then, I drank many alcohol, so I had a hangover.

Therefore, I decided not to drink alcohol too much.

2010 Summer Vacation

Hi, I'm Moe from EDC1.　Summer vacation finished. I had some memories this vacation. I went to Fuji Safari Park on my birthday, had BBQ in Atago River with my club members, drank with my friends, went to FujiQ Highland and Nagashima Spaland, went to sea...

I was happy!!! I enjoyed this summer vacation, so, I have to study English hard from now on!

Seattle and a Pirate!!

Hi, This is Megumi from EDC1.

2weeks ago, I went to Seattle from Canada by Bus.

It took many many times to go there !!! About 5 hours...Oh my god...

I went there for sightseeing. Seattle was very beautiful!!

It resembled Vancouver. There was a large public market, a lot of stores and

THE FIRST STAR BUCKS STORE.
In the public market, there were a lot of fruits,flowers, souvenirs and stuff.

I bought a plum and chocolates there. A fruit shop assistant made me cut a plum.

I could eat it there at once!! I took my picture. and then, someone said

"are you advertising fruits?" I stood in front of the shop, so she thought so!

I became a little embarrased. hahah

1week ago, my host family took me to the fisherman shop(? I don't know).

A lot of fresh fish were sold there. There was bustling!! and then, I found a pirate!!

What do you think about him?


He is a fisherman, but he looked like a pirate!

International Art fes in Setouchi 2

Next day, I went to Naoshima. This island is famous of some art museum, for example benesse art museum and Chichu museum. Chichu museum was build by Tadao Ando.


Also, there are famous monument in island.
Do you know this monument??

Yes!!
This pumpkin was made by Yayoi Kusama.



Setouchi art fes is hold in between Setouchi sea, so we should move by ferry or high speed boat.
It is rare chance that I take ferry, so I was enjoy taking!!








Moreover, it was good weather during staying.



I recommend you go to Kagawa and this festival.

The LAST LECTURE

Hi. I'm Sayaka Ikeda from EDC3.
I read "The LAST LECTURE" in this summer vacation.
It was written by Randy Pausch. He was told that he have a few months left to live.

I remember the story like this. It is "The Bucket List". Do you know this movie? I watched this DVD in this vacation. Two men told their days left to live like him and decided to do what they want to do before their death. Randy Pausch was optimist,so he could think about "The LAST LECTURE" at once. Two men of The Bucket List were shocked their future. But, after that, they decided to challenge their dreams.

If I were them, what would I do? I can't imagine easily. Because it is very big problem.
Maybe I will be shocked for a few days. I will think about my short days left to live, and I will be frightened the death.

But I could be more positive than before by these story. I want to try what I want regardless of the time left to live.

In Simane☆

This is Kiwa again.

I went to many place in this summer vacation. One of them is Izumo. It is in Shimane prefecture and it take about 6 hours to go to Izumo by train. First, I rode Hikari super express bound for Okayama, and then, I took Yakumo express bound for Izumoshi station. It was very long trip from Hamamatsu.



First day, I went to Izumo-taisya and Hinomisaki. Izumo-taisya is god of love and all of gods in Japan gather in October of lunar calender. Many tourist visited to Izumo-taisya. Hinomisaki is a place there is tallest lighthouse.




Second day, I went to Sakaiminato city. It is famous for fish and Mizuki Shigeru. He is writer of "Ge Ge Ge no Kitaro".
I ate shore dinner in there. I don't like seafood very much, but the food in Sakaiminato was fresh and delicious. I become to like seafood!!!





I enjoyed this trip and made good memories.
If you have a chance to go to Shimane, you should eat shore dinner.

trip to Kagawa!!

Hello.
This is Kiwa from EDC3.

I went to Kagawa.
It was my first time to leave from Honsyu.
I crossed the Seto-Ohasi bridge to go to Kagawa. We can see sea and many islands, so I was exited.The purpose of this trip was eating many Udon!
I went to 4 Udon restraint in Kagawa. It was so delicious.In Kagawa, met many kind people and made good memories. I enjoyed trip to Kagawa.

International Art fes in Setouchi 1

Hello, Moe from EDC3 again!!!

I told about setouchi art festival.

This picture is in Teshima.
This island is famous of dispose of industrial wastes.
In those days, there were lot of industrial wastes because injustice companies put it.

However, Teshima began to clean up and revived.

In Teshima, there are some art in this town side .











I was enjoy meeting many arts!!

summer vacation - Kagawa -

Hello, Moe from EDC3 again!!

I told about story of Trip of Kagawa.
I went back to my home town , Kagawa.

During 2010 July to October, Setouchi International Art festival hold in Kagawa.

I didn't know this festival was famous in the world, because not only Japanese people but also foreign countries people in this festival. I was surprised and this is a good tendency because my hometown was not famous in the world, so this festival was good chance to come to traveler and good inform.

I want to enjoy staying.

The Last Lecture

Hello,everyone.
I'm Miho from EDC3.

I read ' The Last Lecture' in this summer vacation.
I will give a information of this story and Randy Pausch.
Randy Pausch is a professor at Carnegie Mellon University and he had a cancer.
He is a short lease on life, but he never give up.
He gave a lecture to his student and this lecture is released.

There are a lot of famous sayings in this book.
If I have a free time, I read it again.

summer 2010 Internship JTB-

Hello, long time no see!
I'm Moe from EDC3.

I'm sorry too late, I wrote this blog.

In 2010 September, during a week I went to internship at JTB in Hamamatsu.
I'm interested in a travel agency.

I had a valuable experienced before job hunting, because I had changed impression of travel agency.

I took part in doing business. I went to company or school.
This season, most of high school and elementary school go to school trip.
So travel agents said, this season was too busy.

Travel agency's job was not only travel support but also planning events or arrange training of the companies.

I want to make use of this experience to job hunting.

The final day of summer vacation...

Hello, everyone. This is Kohta Suzuki from EDC1.
Through reading your articles, I thought all of you had a wonderful summer vacation.

In my case, this summer was "Save" and "Recharge (my battery)". Instead of traveling or playing friends, I worked and rested as much as possible. It seems to be very boring, but now I am full of energy and looking forward to starting a new semester.

From this fall, Junior students are going to start job hunting. The situation which surrounds employment is unbelievably severe ;( (but we have to endure!)

Also, many of us starting our personal research in Semi.

To be compatible both of them will be so tough ;( however, I want to get over them using the power which I saved within this summer.

Last Day

Hello, everyone.

Long time no see.
Today is last day of summer vacation.

I worked at buffet restaurant this morning.
In this summer vacation, I had a lot of experience.
For example, I went to English school for internship.
This was very useful for me.

Second, I went to Tokyo Disney Land and Univarsal Studios Japan.
I met my friends and teacher of junior high school.
I enjoyed talking with them.

I'm looking forward to seeing you.

Concert in Tokyo

Hi! I’m Sayaka Ikeda from EDC3.

School will start tomorrow! It’s very quick!

I went to Tokyo today.

You know KAT-TUN, don’t you?

It is my favorite group :)

One of the members held a concert!

The concert was held in Harajuku.

So, my friend and I went window-shopping before it start.

There were many nice shops.

It is different from Hamamatsu!

But I don’t like Tokyo.

There are too many people.

After that, we enjoyed the concert.

It was very good. He was very very cool!!!

His songs and talk were very nice.

I enjoyed very much.

Shopping!

Hi! This is Miki from EDC 1.

This summer, I went to Gotenba Outlet mall with my friend.
I went there by train and it took us about 3 hours. Outlet mall was in summer sale, so we were excited! However, all the famous brands item were still too expensive for us to buy. I thought I should come after I get a job.
Although we couldn’t buy anything there, we enjoyed to know how the outlet mall was like.

The way home, we stopped at Shizuoka and enjoyed shopping at Parco. We bought some clothes and I bought boots too. This was my third time to go to Shizuoka and I thought Shizuoka is better than Hamamatsu! I want more interesting clothing shop near the Hamamatsu Station. I want to go shopping to Shizuoka more often.
We enjoyed shopping very much!!

Book Review

Hello, this is Shunsuke from EDC3 again.

I'll post about the book "The Last Lecture" in this time.

If I get the same information like Randy Pauche, what can I do?

My life is limited, and I will die three to six months later because of the cancer.
In my case, I'll be inconsolable with fear. It's hard to believe because I spend my life as usual, and there is no signs of cancers.

However, Randy's choice was much different as mine. He tried to do his best to enjoy the rest of his life. Iwas impressed with the way of his manliness.

He made a lot of memories with his family as much as possible.

Messages from him will maybe give me some courage in the near future, and it can be very useful when I depressed.

Next Semester

Hi, this is Toshiki from EDC1. This is today's second post.

I read everyone's posts and enjoyed them. You spent nice summer vacation! Some went abroad. Trip abroad looks exciting!

Next semester I want to be active. First, I got a driver's license recently. After being accustomed to drive, I want to go far away by my car. Next, I'll study English more. Next semester I have more time. To go abroad next year, I'll do my best.

Movies

Hello! This is Miki from EDC 1.

This summer vacation, I saw some interesting movies!

One of it is “Toy Story 3”! I suggest many students went to see it too! I never thought that I would cry while watching this movie, but the story was very touching and heart-warming. There are many funny scenes too! I like the scene of buzz starts to speak Spanish! It’s very funny!!

Recently, I saw “Biohazard 4 Afterlife”. The movies Biohazard are originally from the Japanese game. Biohazard 1 was shown in 2001. I thought this series are scary, so I haven’t seen them until this summer. However, its actions are awesome and the story is shocking. I couldn’t stop watching them.

This “Biohazard 4 Afterlife” is shown in 3D!!! You should watch it in the theater!
